`299A Councillor must take leave to contest State election 1
`(1) This section applies to a councillor who, under the Electoral Act 2
1992, section 88(3),1 becomes a candidate for election as a member of the 3
Legislative Assembly. 4
`(2) The councillor must take leave of absence for the period starting on 5
the day the councillor becomes a candidate for the election and ending on 6
the day the Electoral Commission is notified, under the Electoral Act 1992, 7
section 122(1),2 of the candidate elected for the electoral district for which 8
the councillor is a candidate. 9
`(3) During the period of leave, the councillor must not act in the office 10
and is not entitled to remuneration for service as a councillor. 11
`(4) This section applies to the Brisbane City Council.'. 12
