An Act to amend the Gas Supply Act 2003 in relation to the
provision of community services

The Parliament of Queensland enacts-- 1
Clause 1 Short title 2
This Act may be cited as the Gas Supply Amendment Act 3
2008. 4
Clause 2 Commencement 5
This Act commences on 31 March 2008. 6
Clause 3 Act amended 7
This Act amends the Gas Supply Act 2003. 8
Clause 4 Insertion of new s 175A 9
Chapter 3, part 1, division 2-- 10
insert-- 11
`175A Additional condition about community services 12
agreement 13
`(1) A retailer must not provide customer retail services unless-- 14
(a) the retailer-- 15
(i) enters into an agreement with the State to provide, 16
for at least 5 years, the community services agreed 17
between the State and the retailer; and 18
(ii) complies with the agreement; or 19
(b) if no agreement is entered into with the State under 20
paragraph (a)(i), the retailer-- 21
(i) provides the community services decided by the 22
Minister; and 23
(ii) complies with any conditions included in the 24
Minister's decision about the provision of the 25
services. 26

pensioner rebate scheme for customer retail services 2
Maximum penalty--400 penalty units. 3
`(2) In making a decision under subsection (1)(b), the Minister 4
must have regard to the retailer's reasonable administration 5
costs and other risks in providing the community services.'. 7
