The Parliament of Queensland enacts-- 1

1. This Act may be cited as the Government Cleaning Service 3
Preservation Act 1996. 4

Commencement
2. This Act is taken to have commenced on 2 August 1996. 6

Definitions
3. In this Act-- 8
"government cleaning service" means the government entity (of whatever 9
type and however described) that provides cleaning services to State 10
schools, and includes the service's assets and functions. 11
"privatisation", of the government cleaning service, means causing the 12
whole or part of the service to be transferred to, or managed or carried 13
out by, a private person. 14

4. This Act binds the Crown. 16

5.(1) It is unlawful to privatise the government cleaning service. 18
(2) Anything done to privatise the government cleaning service is of no 19
effect. 20
