CARE AND PROTECTION OF CHILDREN ACT 2007 (NO 37 OF 2007) - SECT 36

Police officer's power to investigate

    (1)     A police officer may initiate an investigation to determine whether a child is in need of protection.

    (2)     The police officer may do so only if the officer believes on reasonable grounds the child might be in need of protection (whether or not inquiries about the child have been made under section 32 or 2007_Actc093.html#_Ref174362235">33 ).

    (3)     The investigation must be conducted by that or another police officer.

    (4)     Within 24 hours after completing the investigation, the officer who conducted the investigation must give a report of the investigation to the CEO.
