MOTOR OMNIBUS REGULATIONS - REG 81A

School buses

    (1)     While an omnibus is being used as a school bus, it shall carry, prominently displayed at the front and at the rear of the bus, a rectangular sign not less than 1,500 millimetres long and not less than 250 millimetres wide, carrying the words "SCHOOL BUS" on a yellow background in bold-faced black letters not less than 200 millimetres high.

    (2)     A sign displayed in pursuance of subregulation (1) shall be clearly legible in normal conditions from a distance of 30 metres.

    (3)     The driver of an omnibus shall ensure that a sign in accordance with this regulation:

        (a)     is displayed at all times while the bus is being used as a school bus; and

        (b)     is not displayed except while the bus is being so used.

    (4)     For the purposes of this regulation, an omnibus is being used as a school bus while it is engaged principally in carrying children to or from school and the route that it is taking begins or ends at a school.
