Northern Territory Consolidated RegulationsIn these Regulations, unless the contrary intention appears:
"advertisement" in relation to the display of an advertisement on or within an omnibus does not include the name of the omnibus service under which the omnibus is operated or the name of the holder of a service licence or motor omnibus licence.
"bus stop" means an area of a public street that is marked off by:
(a) a part of the kerb of the public street that is between a traffic sign bearing an arrow and the words "BUS STOP" erected on or near to that kerb and another such traffic sign on the same side of the public street nearest in the direction indicated by that arrow; or
(b) markings on the pavement of the public street, and which markings are adjacent to:
(i) a traffic sign bearing the words "BUS STOP", "BUSES ONLY" or "BUSES EXCEPTED"; or
(ii) the words "BUS STOP" marked on that pavement.
"conductor" means a conductor of an omnibus and includes a driver of an omnibus on which no conductor is employed.
"conductor's licence" means a conductor's licence granted under these Regulations.
"footpath" means the path or place between the kerb and property lines adjoining a public street set apart for the exclusive use of pedestrians.
"licensee" means a licensee under a service licence.
"medical testing officer" means an officer appointed under the Act to be a medical testing officer.
"official traffic sign" means any notice, sign or other device marked, placed or erected on or at the side of a public street by authority of the Minister for the purpose of guiding, directing, regulating or warning motor vehicles or traffic.
"omnibus" means a motor omnibus.
"omnibus service" means a motor omnibus passenger service.
"parking" means the standing or waiting on a public street of a motor vehicle, whether occupied or not, when not actually engaged in picking up or setting down passengers or goods, or when not required to stop in obedience to official traffic signs or signals by a member of the Police Force and park or parked has a corresponding meaning.
"parking area" means an area set aside for the parking of vehicles and indicated by an official traffic sign.
"registration" means registration under the Act.
"roadway" means that part of a public street open to, or used by, vehicular traffic, but does not include a footpath.
"service licence" means a licence to conduct an omnibus service.
"testing officer" means an officer appointed under the Act to be a testing officer.
