LOCAL COURT ACT - SECT 3

In this Act, unless the contrary intention appears:

"claim" includes a cause of action.

"Court" means the Local Court and includes a person exercising the jurisdiction of the Local Court under this or any other Act or the Rules.

"jurisdictional limit" means $100,000.

"Local Court" means the Local Court established or continued in existence by this Act.

"proceeding" means a proceeding in the Court.

"process" includes a witness summons and any process by which a proceeding in the Court is commenced or enforced.

"Registrar" means a person appointed under section 9 to be a Judicial Registrar, acting Judicial Registrar, Registrar, Deputy Registrar or acting Registrar of the Court, as the case may require.

"Rules" means rules of procedure made under section 21.
