Northern Territory Consolidated Acts Northern Territory Consolidated Acts(1) A coroner may give directions to a police officer for the purpose of investigating the death of a person held in custody or caused or contributed to by injuries sustained while being held in custody.
(2) A police officer must not refuse or fail to comply with a lawful direction by a coroner given under subsection (1).
Maximum penalty: 40 penalty units or imprisonment for 6 months.
