An Act to amend the Ombudsman Act

The Legislative Assembly of the Northern Territory enacts as follows:

Short title

This Act may be cited as the Ombudsman Amendment Act 2009.

Act amended

This Act amends the Ombudsman Act.

Amendment of section 165 (Actions before commencement date)

After section 165(2)

insert

(3) Despite subsection (2), an inquiry or investigation to which that subsection applies, that is not completed before the commencement of this subsection, may be completed under this Act if:

(a) a complainant in the matter so requests; and

(b) the Ombudsman believes the inquiry or investigation would be better dealt with under this Act.
