The Legislative Assembly of the Northern Territory enacts as follows:

Short title

This Act may be cited as the Human Tissue Transplant Amendment Act 2006.

Act amended

This Act amends the Human Tissue Transplant Act.

3. Repeal and substitution of section 14

Section 14

repeal, substitute

14. Consent to removal of blood

A person who is of sound mind and at least 16 years of age may consent to the removal of blood from his or her body for any of the following purposes:

(a) transfusion to another person or use of the blood (including its constituents) for other therapeutic purposes;

(b) medical purposes;

(c) scientific purposes.
