An Act to amend the Criminal Code Act

The Legislative Assembly of the Northern Territory enacts as follows:

Short title

This Act may be cited as the Criminal Code Amendment (Assaults on Drivers of Commercial Passenger Vehicles) Act 2008.

Commencement

This Act commences on the date fixed by the Administrator by Gazette notice.

Act amended

This Act amends the Criminal Code Act.

Amendment of section 188 (Common assault)

Section 188(2), after paragraph (f)

insert

(fa) is working, at the time of the assault, as the driver of a commercial passenger vehicle (as defined in the Commercial Passengers (Road) Transport Act) or in work incidental to the driving or operation of the vehicle;
