The Legislative Assembly of the Northern Territory enacts as follows:

Short title

This Act may be cited as the Cemeteries Amendment Act 2005.

Principal Act amended

This Act amends the Cemeteries Act.

Amendment of section 37 (Burials in closed cemeteries)

(1) Section 37 –

omit

A person

substitute

(1) A person

(2) Section 37, at the end –

insert

(2) A person does not commit an offence against subsection (1) if the person buries the body of a deceased person in accordance with an approval under the Regulations.
