Failure to pay contribution or levy

78 Failure to pay contribution or levy

If a solicitor fails to pay a contribution required under section 76 or, after being given the prescribed notice, fails to pay a levy in accordance with this Part, the Law Society Council may:

(a) in the case of a local legal practitioner-suspend the solicitor’s practising certificate while the failure continues, or
(b) in the case of an interstate legal practitioner-suspend that practitioner’s entitlement under Part 3B to practise in this State while the failure continues and request the regulatory authority in the State or Territory in which the practitioner has his or her sole or principal place of legal practice to suspend the solicitor’s interstate practising certificate until the Law Society Council notifies the regulatory authority that the contribution or levy has been paid.
