Excavation of sloping sites
3A.29 Excavation of sloping sites
(1) Excavation associated with the
erection of, or alterations or additions to, a dwelling house or ancillary
development (other than a swimming pool) must: (a) be not more than 2m below
ground level (existing), and
(b) be constructed using a retaining wall or
unprotected embankment that meets the standards of subclause (2) or (3),
respectively.
(2) A retaining wall: (a) must not redirect the flow of surface
water onto adjoining property, and
(b) must not extend more than 2m
horizontally from any external wall of the dwelling house or ancillary
development.
(3) An unprotected embankment must not extend more than 4m
horizontally beyond the external wall of the dwelling house or ancillary
development.
(4) Excavation associated with the erection of, or alterations
or additions to, a swimming pool must be not more than the depth required for
the pool structure.
