(1) A
"level crossing" is--(a) an area where a road and a railway meet at substantially the same level, whether or not there is a level crossing sign on the road at all or any of the entrances to the area, or(b) an area where a road and tram tracks meet at substantially the same level and that has a level crossing sign on the road at each entrance to the area.Note :
"Tram tracks" is defined in the Dictionary.
(1A) A reference to a level crossing in this rule includes a reference to any area adjacent to the crossing that is denoted by painted cross-hatched road markings.
(2) In this rule--
"road" does not include a road related area.Note :
"Road related area" is defined in rule 13.
