Functions of Bush Fire Management Committees
16 Functions of Bush Fire Management Committees
(1) A Bush Fire Management Committee must, at the request of the Bush Fire
Co-ordinating Committee: (a) assist the Bush Fire Co-ordinating Committee in
the performance of its functions under section 48 of the Act, and
(b) assist
the Bush Fire Co-ordinating Committee in the performance of its functions
under sections 60 (2) and 63 (4) of the Act.
(2) A Bush Fire Management
Committee may draw to the attention of: (a) the Bush Fire Co-ordinating
Committee, or
(b) the Commissioner, or
(c) a public authority exercising its
functions in the Bush Fire Management Committee’s area,
any matter it
considers relevant to the protection of land, life, property or the
environment in that area from the impact of bush fires.
(3) A Bush Fire
Management Committee has no power to conduct or take part in fire fighting or
fire prevention operations authorised by the Act, this Regulation or any other
Act or statutory instrument.
