Purging before entry-particular risk control measures
70 Purging before entry-particular risk control measures
(1) An employer
must ensure that, if appropriate, a confined space is cleared of all
contaminants by use of a suitable purging agent by which contaminants are
displaced from the confined space before a person enters the confined space.
(2) An employer must ensure that pure oxygen or a gas mixture in a
concentration of more than 21% of oxygen by volume is not used for the purging
or ventilation of a confined space.
Maximum penalty: Level 4.
