New South Wales Consolidated Regulations(cf Crimes (Detention after Arrest) Regulation 1998 , cl 27)
(1) If a detained person is a child or a person with impaired intellectual or physical functioning, the custody manager for the person must, as soon as practicable, attempt:(a) to ascertain the identity of the person responsible for the welfare of the detained person, and(b) to contact the person so responsible and advise the person of the detained person’s whereabouts and the grounds for the detention.
(2) If a detained person has impaired physical functioning, the custody manager must, as soon as practicable, attempt to determine any specific physical care needs of the person and, if reasonably practicable to do so, arrange for those needs to be provided for.
