Development in industrial zones
16 Development in industrial zones
(1) The council may grant consent to the carrying out of development on and
within Zone No 4 for the purpose of shops (other than bulky goods salesrooms
or showrooms) or for commercial purposes only where it is satisfied that: (a)
where the proposed development may otherwise have been carried out within a
business centre in the locality, suitable land for the development is not
available in that business centre, and
(b) the proposed development is of a
type appropriate to an industrial zone, or to the general character of
existing structures or uses within the industrial zone.
(2) The council may
grant consent to the carrying out of development on land within Zone No 4 for
the purpose of a panel beating workshop only where it is satisfied that: (a)
the land in question does not adjoin land within a residential zone, and
(b)
appropriate arrangements are made to store on the site of the proposed
development and either within a building or within a suitably screened area
all vehicles awaiting or undergoing repair, awaiting collection or otherwise
involved with the proposed workshop.
