New South Wales Consolidated RegulationsBefore granting consent for development, the consent authority must have regard to the following principles of ecologically sustainable development, to the extent it considers them relevant to the proposed development:
(a) the conservation of energy and natural resources, particularly water and soil, and
(b) the avoidance of environmentally damaging materials, and
(c) the avoidance of significant adverse impact on the natural environment, particularly areas of remnant vegetation, watercourses and native flora and fauna, and
(d) waste avoidance and waste minimisation, and
(e) encouraging the use of public transport.
