16A Parents of child may be notified of warning
(1) An investigating official who gives a warning to a child, or a youth
liaison officer, may notify the parents of the child (whether in writing,
verbally or in person) that a warning has been given to the child in respect
of an offence committed by the child.
(2) However, an investigating official
or youth liaison officer may not notify a parent of a child under subsection
(1) if the official or officer is of the opinion that the disclosure of the
giving of the warning would pose an unacceptable risk to the safety, welfare
or well-being of the child.
