WEAPONS PROHIBITION ACT 1998 - SECT 29
Permit must be produced on demand
29 Permit must be produced on demand
(1) A person to whom a permit is issued must, on demand made by an
authorised officer or police officer at any time: (a) if the person has the
permit in his or her immediate possession-produce the permit for inspection by
the officer, or
(b) if the person does not have the permit in his or her
immediate possession-produce it within 48 hours after the demand is made to
the officer who made the demand or to another officer nominated by the
officer, or
(c) provide proof of that person’s identity, and his or her
usual place of residence, to the officer.
Maximum penalty: 50 penalty units
or imprisonment for 12 months, or both.
(2) A person is guilty of an offence
under this section only if the authorised officer or police officer, when
making the demand, explains to the person that failure to comply with the
demand is an offence against this Act.
