Proceedings before Board in respect of complaints
43 Proceedings before Board in respect of complaints
(1) For the purposes of investigating or determining a complaint, the Board is
not bound to observe the rules of evidence but may inform itself of any matter
in such manner as it thinks fit.
(2) Without limiting subsection (1), the
Board may meet separately or jointly with the complainant and
veterinary practitioner concerned in an attempt to resolve any issue raised by
the complaint if it considers the complaint may be resolved expeditiously by
doing so.
(3) The Board may be assisted by any person that it considers has
relevant expertise in mediation or alternative dispute resolution in any such
attempt to resolve a complaint.
(4) Nothing in subsection (2) or (3) operates
to prejudice the rights of the complainant or veterinary practitioner
concerned.
