TEACHING SERVICE ACT 1980 - SECT 50
Temporary employees
(1) The Director-General may employ a person who, in the opinion of the
Director-General, has the appropriate qualifications to carry out work in the
Teaching Service for a particular period.
(2) A person employed under this
section may be employed on a full-time, casual or part-time basis.
(3) A
temporary employee is a member of, but does not hold a position in, the
Teaching Service.
(5) A person employed under this section: (a) shall not be
employed for a period exceeding 12 months but the employment may be extended
from time to time for a further period not exceeding 12 months on each
occasion if the Director-General certifies that the extension is necessary in
the public interest, and
(b) may be dismissed at any time.
