Ombudsman’s general powers
13 Ombudsman’s general powers
(1) For the purposes of an inspection under this Part of an
eligible authority’s records, the Ombudsman: (a) may, after notifying the
chief officer of the authority, enter at any reasonable time premises occupied
by the authority,
(b) is entitled to have full and free access at all
reasonable times to all records of the authority,
(c) notwithstanding any
other law, is entitled to make copies of, and to take extracts from, records
of the authority, and
(d) may require an officer of the authority to give the
Ombudsman such information as the Ombudsman considers necessary, being
information that is in the officer’s possession, or to which the officer has
access, and that is relevant to the inspection.
(2) The chief officer of an
eligible authority shall ensure that the authority’s officers provide to the
Ombudsman such assistance in connection with the exercise of the Ombudsman’s
functions under this Part as the Ombudsman reasonably requires.
