Investigation of application
23 Investigation of application
(1) On receiving an application for a
licence, the Minister must carry out all such investigations and inquiries as
the Minister considers necessary to enable the Minister to consider the
application properly.
(2) In particular, the Minister: (a) may require any
person the Minister is investigating in relation to the person’s suitability
to be concerned in or associated with the conduct of a totalizator to consent
to having his or her photograph, fingerprints and palm prints taken, and
(b)
must refer to the Commissioner of Police details of the persons the Minister
is investigating, copies of any photographs, fingerprints and palm prints
taken and any supporting information that the Minister considers appropriate
for referral to the Commissioner.
(3) The Commissioner of Police is to
inquire into and report to the Minister on such matters concerning the
application as the Minister may request.
(4) The Minister may refuse to
consider an application for a licence while any person from whom the Minister
requires a photograph, fingerprints or palm prints under this section refuses
to allow his or her photograph, fingerprints or palm prints to be taken.
