STOCK MEDICINES ACT 1989 - SECT 39C
Prescription or supply of stock medicine by veterinary practitioner
(1) A veterinary practitioner must not prescribe or supply a stock medicine
for use by a person on stock unless the veterinary practitioner is authorised
by this Act to use the stock medicine on that stock.
(2) A
veterinary practitioner must not prescribe or supply a stock medicine for use
in a manner contrary to the use instructions unless the
veterinary practitioner is authorised by this Act to use the stock medicine on
that stock in that manner.
(3) A veterinary practitioner must not prescribe
or supply an unregistered stock medicine for use on stock (other than stock of
a food producing species) unless the stock medicine: (a) is a
registered human pharmaceutical, or
(b) has been compounded by the
veterinary practitioner or by a pharmacist on the prescription of the
veterinary practitioner.
Maximum penalty: 100 penalty units.
