SECURITY INDUSTRY ACT 1997 - SECT 24
Term of licence
(1A) A licence comes into force on the day that it is collected from the place
nominated by the Commissioner under section 21 (1) (a).
(1) A licence remains
in force for a period of 5 years (or such shorter period as may be prescribed
by the regulations) from the day on which it comes into force, unless sooner
surrendered or revoked or it otherwise ceases to be in force.
(2) A licence
cannot be renewed, but an application for a new licence may be made in
accordance with this Act.
(3) Despite subsection (1), if the person who made
the application for a licence (the
"applicant") fails to collect the licence in accordance with the condition set
out in section 21 (4): (a) the licence does not come into force and is taken
to have not been granted, and
(b) for the purposes of section 18 (5), the
applicant is taken to be a person who was an applicant for, but was never
granted, a licence.
