(2) If the child was born outside the
Commonwealth and registration of the birth is not permitted under the Births,
Deaths and Marriages Registration Act 1995 or a corresponding interstate law,
the birth of the child must have been registered in accordance with the
requirements (if any) of the law of the jurisdiction in which the child was
born.
(3) In this section, a
"corresponding interstate law" means a law of another State, or of a
Territory, that provides for the registration of births, deaths and marriages.
