Performance audit of authority’s activities
55 Performance audit of authority’s activities
(1) The Minister may request the Auditor-General to conduct a performance
audit of all or any particular activities of an authority under Division 2A of
Part 3 of the Public Finance and Audit Act 1983 .
(2) The request may be made
on the Minister’s own initiative or at the request of the State Council.
(3) The Auditor-General must conduct such a performance audit of all or any
particular activities of an authority if requested to do so by the Minister.
(4) The Minister is to advise the authority and the State Council of the
outcome of the performance audit as soon as practicable after receiving the
Auditor-General’s report on it and is to forward a copy of the report to the
authority and the State Council.
(5) The State Council is to advise the
authority and the Minister in writing of the things done or proposed to be
done by the State Council in response to the report as soon as practicable (or
within such period as the Minister directs) after it receives the copy of the
report.
(6) The cost of conducting a performance audit is payable by the
authority concerned.
Note: The Auditor-General may surcharge directors and
employees of an authority for improper expenditure. See Part 15.
