RETAIL LEASES ACT 1994 - SECT 16O
Receipts to be given for security bonds
16O Receipts to be given for security bonds
(1) A lessor, or the lessor’s
agent, receiving money deposited or paid as a security bond must, at the time
of receiving the money, give or cause to be given to the person making the
deposit or payment a receipt for the money.
(2) A receipt given under
subsection (1) must contain the following particulars: (a) the names of the
lessor and lessee,
(b) a sufficient identification of the retail shop
concerned,
(c) the amount of money received,
(d) the date the money was
received,
(e) such other particulars as are prescribed for the purposes of
this subsection.
(3) A lessor, or the lessor’s agent, must keep or cause to
be kept, in the manner (if any) and for such term (if any) as are prescribed,
a copy of each receipt given under this section.
Note: Clause 24 of Schedule
3 provides that, until regulations are made for the purposes of section 16O
(3), regulations are taken to include a provision referred to in that clause.
