RURAL FIRES ACT 1997 - SECT 95
Permit not required for fires lit by public authorities
95 Permit not required for fires lit by public authorities
(1) Nothing in
this Division requires a public authority or a person acting under the
direction of a public authority to hold a permit to light a fire.
(2)
However, a public authority: (a) must not light a fire in any area of an
authority (or part of such an area) if it has been notified that a
determination referred to in section 93 (b) has been made in respect of the
area, and
(b) must not light a fire in any rural fire district unless the
fire control officer for the district has been advised that it is to be lit,
and
(c) must not light a fire on land in any fire district unless the officer
in charge of the fire station that is nearest to the land has been advised
that it is to be lit.
