Objects
3 Objects
(1) The objects of this Act are as follows-- (a) to promote, protect and
improve public health,
(b) to control the risks to public health,
(c) to
promote the control of infectious diseases,
(d) to prevent the spread of
infectious diseases,
(e) to recognise the role of local government in
protecting public health.
(f) to monitor diseases and conditions affecting
public health.
(2) The protection of the health and safety of the public is
to be the paramount consideration in the exercise of functions under this Act.
