PARLIAMENTARY ELECTORATES AND ELECTIONS ACT 1912 - SECT 21AE
Election officials
(1) The Electoral Commissioner may, by instrument in writing, appoint
appropriate persons to be: (a) returning officers, or
(b)
polling place managers, or
(c) election assistants.
(2) An election official
is to be appointed for a specified district and for a specified term. The term
may be specified by reference to a particular period of time or by reference
to a particular Assembly general election (and the concurrent
periodic Council election) or a particular by-election.
(3) A person is not
qualified for appointment as an election official unless the person is an
elector. A person is not ineligible for appointment as an election official
for a district merely because the person is not enrolled as an elector on the
electoral roll for the district.
