Scrutiny for statistical information
126A Scrutiny for statistical information
(1) After the declaration that a candidate has been duly elected, the
Electoral Commissioner may, for the purpose of obtaining statistical
information, give the returning officer directions for the examination of the
second and later preferences of candidates and for the distribution of those
preferences in the manner specified in the directions.
(2) The
returning officer shall comply with those directions.
(3) An examination and
distribution of preferences under this section may be carried out by an
officer of the Public Service or an election official if the
Electoral Commissioner so directs.
