Calculation of deferred pension
19C Calculation of deferred pension
(1) The value of a deferred pension when it first becomes payable is to be
calculated in accordance with section 19 as at the date the former member
ceased to be a member, except that the current basic salary for the purpose of
that section is to be calculated as at the date the deferred pension becomes
payable under section 19B.
(2) If a former member in respect of whom a
pension has been deferred under section 19B dies: (a) section 23 (2) applies
in respect of the spouse or de facto partner of the former member in the same
way as it applies in respect of the spouse or de facto partner of a member who
has been entitled to salary for an aggregate period of 7 years or more, and
(b) section 23B applies in respect of a dependent child of the former member
in the same way as it applies in respect of a dependent child of a deceased
member or former member.
