Service of notices and legal processes
30A Service of notices and legal processes
(1) Any notice required to be given under any Act, by-law, regulation or rule
with the administration of which the Board is charged may be sufficiently
served by posting the same duly stamped and addressed to the person to whom
such notice is directed at the person’s place of abode or business last
known to the Board, or in the manner herein prescribed for service of any
summons or process.
(2) Any summons or other process in any legal proceeding
under any such Act, by-law, regulation or rule may be sufficiently served by
delivering the same: (a) personally to the person to be served, or
(b) at the
person’s place of abode or business last known to the Board, or
(c) on
board any vessel to which the person belongs, and accompanied with a statement
of the purport thereof to the person being or appearing to be in command or
charge of such vessel.
(3) The service of any notice, summons or process
under this section may be proved in any legal proceedings either by the oath
or by the affidavit of the person by whom it was served or otherwise.
