MEDICAL PRACTICE ACT 1992 - SECT 126
Records to be kept
126 Records to be kept
(1) The regulations may make provision for or with respect to requiring
registered medical practitioners and corporations engaged in the provision of
medical services to make and keep specified records. A provision of such a
regulation may impose a penalty not exceeding 20 penalty units for a
contravention of the provision.
(2) A person who makes or keeps a record
under the regulations must ensure that when the record is disposed of it is
disposed of in a manner that will preserve the confidentiality of any
information it contains relating to patients. Maximum penalty: 100 penalty
units.
(3) The Board may grant exemptions from some or all of the
requirements of regulations made under this section and may impose conditions
on any such exemption.
