Notification to carers of initial detention
75 Notification to carers of initial detention
(1) An authorised medical officer must, not later than 24 hours after a person
is detained in a mental health facility, take all reasonably practicable steps
to notify any designated carer and the principal care provider (if the
principal care provider is not a designated carer) of the person that the
person is detained in the facility.
(2) Notice need not be given if the
person is discharged or classified as a voluntary patient within that period.
