MOTOR ACCIDENTS COMPENSATION ACT 1999 - SECT 69
Claims Assessment Guidelines of Authority
(1) The Authority may issue guidelines for or with respect to procedures for
the assessment of claims under Part 4.4 and associated matters (
"MAA Claims Assessment Guidelines").
(2) The Authority may amend, revoke or
replace MAA Claims Assessment Guidelines.
(3) The Authority is to consult the
following about any proposed MAA Claims Assessment Guidelines: (a) Insurance
Council of Australia Limited,
(b) Council of the Bar Association,
(c)
Council of the Law Society.
(4) MAA Claims Assessment Guidelines may adopt
the provisions of other publications, whether with or without modification or
addition and whether in force at a particular time or from time to time.
(5)
MAA Claims Assessment Guidelines are to be published in the Gazette and take
effect on the day of that publication or, if a later day is specified in the
Guidelines for that purpose, on the day so specified.
(6) Sections 40 (Notice
of statutory rules to be tabled) and 41 (Disallowance of statutory rules) of
the Interpretation Act 1987 apply to MAA Claims Assessment Guidelines in the
same way as those sections apply to statutory rules.
