MOTOR ACCIDENTS COMPENSATION ACT 1999 - SECT 68

68 Claims Handling Guidelines of Authority

(cf s 40B MAA)

(1) The Authority may issue to licensed insurers guidelines with respect to the manner in which insurers and those acting on their behalf are to deal with claims (
"Motor Accidents Claims Handling Guidelines" ).

(2) The Authority may amend, revoke or replace Motor Accidents Claims Handling Guidelines.

(3) The Authority is to consult the following about any proposed Motor Accidents Claims Handling Guidelines--

(a) Insurance Council of Australia Limited,

(b) Council of the Bar Association,

(c) Council of the Law Society.

(4) Motor Accidents Claims Handling Guidelines may adopt the provisions of other publications, whether with or without modification or addition and whether in force at a particular time or from time to time.

(5) It is a condition of an insurer's licence under Part 7.1 that the insurer comply with Motor Accidents Claims Handling Guidelines.
