Authority’s access to police information
42A Authority’s access to police information
(1) At the written request of the Authority with respect to a motor accident
specified by it, the Commissioner of Police must provide a statement to the
Authority in relation to the following matters if information as to those
matters is held by a member of the Police Service: (a) the registration
numbers of all motor vehicles involved in the accident,
(b) the names of all
persons killed or injured in the accident,
(c) the names of the hospitals to
which the injured persons were taken,
(d) the vehicle or vehicles most likely
to have been at fault in the accident.
(2) The Authority is authorised to
give a copy of a statement provided to it under this section to the next of
kin of a person killed in the accident or a person injured in the accident (or
to an appropriate representative of either such person), or to an insurer.
(3) A statement or copy of a statement provided to or by the Authority under
this section is not admissible in legal proceedings concerning a claim made
under this Act.
