Approval of draft local strategic plans
51 Approval of draft local strategic plans
(1) The Minister may--
(a) approve a draft local strategic plan for a region
submitted by Local Land Services, without alteration or with such alteration
as the Minister thinks fit, or
(b) refer the draft local strategic plan back
to Local Land Services for further consideration.
(2) The Minister is not to
approve a draft local strategic plan unless the Minister--
(a) is satisfied
(having regard to the advice of any person or body to which the draft local
strategic plan has been referred) that the plan promotes the achievement of
State priorities for local land services (if any) so far as those priorities
relate to the region, and
(b) has sought the advice of any person or body
engaged to carry out an independent audit of the activities of
Local Land Services under section 24, and
(c) has obtained the concurrence of
the Minister administering the Native Vegetation Act 2003, but only in
relation to those parts of the draft plan that relate to natural resource
management.
(3) Before making any alterations to the draft plan, the Minister
must consult Local Land Services.
