LORD HOWE ISLAND ACT 1953 - SECT 4
Lord Howe Island Board
(1) There is constituted a corporation under the name of the "Lord Howe Island
Board".
(2) The Board is charged with the responsibility of administering the
affairs of the Island.
(3) The Board is to consist of 7 members, of whom: (a)
four are to be Islanders, and
(b) one is to be a person appointed to
represent the interests of business and tourism, and
(c) one is to be a
person appointed to represent the interests of conservation, and
(d) one is
to be a person employed in the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
(4) The
members referred to in subsection (3) (a) are to be appointed by the Minister
following an election conducted in accordance with Division 3.
(5) The
members referred to in subsection (3) (b), (c) and (d) are to be appointed by
the Minister, and are not to be Islanders.
(6) For the purposes of any Act,
the Board is taken to be a statutory body representing the Crown.

Schedule 1A has effect with respect to the constitution and procedure of the
Board.
