Fair Rents Board may determine fair rent of its own motion
24 Fair Rents Board may determine fair rent of its own motion
(1) A Fair Rents Board may, of its own motion but subject to section 17A,
after inquiry, determine the fair rent of any prescribed premises other than
shared accommodation.
(2) The Fair Rents Board shall cause to be given to the
lessor and lessee of the prescribed premises and to the other persons referred
to in section 19, notice of the time, date and place fixed for the
determination of the fair rent of the premises, and the notice so given to the
lessor shall, for the purpose of this Division, be deemed to be an
application.
(3) In determining the fair rent of prescribed premises under
this section, the Fair Rents Board shall have the same powers as it has in
connection with an application, and any determination made by the
Fair Rents Board shall have the same effect for all purposes as a
determination made upon an application.
