Effect of authority under this Part
21ZB Effect of authority under this Part
(1) An authority under this Part is sufficient authority for the use, for
therapeutic, medical or scientific purposes, of tissue removed from the body
of a person during medical, dental or surgical treatment, if the tissue is
used in accordance with the terms and any conditions of the authority.
(2) An
authority under this Part does not authorise the removal of tissue from the
body of a person.
Note: Parts 2 and 3 provide authority to remove tissue
(including blood and semen) from the body of a living person for purposes such
as transplantation and transfusion, and other therapeutic, scientific, and
medical purposes. Parts 4 and 5 provide authority to remove tissue from the
body of a person who is deceased. In certain cases, an authority under this
Act to remove tissue is not required (see section 34 (1) (a)).
