HOME BUILDING ACT 1989 - SECT 145
Review of Act
145 Review of Act
(1) The Minister is to review this Act to determine whether the policy
objectives of the Act remain valid and whether the terms of the Act remain
appropriate for securing those objectives.
(2) The review is to be undertaken
3 years after the date of assent to the Home Building Legislation
Amendment Act 2001 .
(3) A report on the outcome of the review is to be
tabled in each House of Parliament as soon as possible after the review is
completed and, in any case, within 6 months after the end of the 3-year period
referred to in subsection (2).
(4) Without limiting subsection (1), the
Minister is to review this Act with a view to establishing a Home Building
Compliance Commission in accordance with the recommendations of the Joint
Select Committee on the Quality of Buildings in its Report on the Quality of
Buildings .
(5) The review is to be completed within 2 years after the date
of assent to the Building Legislation Amendment
(Quality of Construction) Act 2002 .
(6) A report on the outcome of the
review is to be tabled in each House of Parliament as soon as possible after
the review is completed and, in any case, within 4 months after the end of the
2-year period referred to in subsection (5).
