GOVERNMENT AND RELATED EMPLOYEES APPEAL TRIBUNAL ACT 1980 - SECT 6
Functions of the Tribunal
(1) The Tribunal shall have and may exercise the functions conferred upon it
by or under this or any other Act.
(2) In the exercise of its functions, the
Tribunal shall do all such things as are necessary to ensure: (a) that appeals
are set down for hearing with as much expedition as is reasonably possible,
and
(b) that the hearing of appeals is concluded within as short a period as
is reasonably possible.
