FISHERIES MANAGEMENT ACT 1994 - SECT 189
When aquaculture operations can be closed
189 When aquaculture operations can be closed
(1) The Minister may, by a fishing closure under Part 2, prohibit during a
specified period the taking of fish or marine vegetation cultivated or kept

satisfied-- (a) that the area is in such a condition that the taking of fish
or marine vegetation from the area ought to be suspended, or
(b) that the
fish or marine vegetation are, or are likely to be, unfit for human
consumption.
(2) Any such fishing closure does not prevent the taking of fish
or marine vegetation for any purpose authorised by the regulations or the
fishing closure.
(3) This section does not limit the application of a
fishing closure under Part 2 to the taking of fish or marine vegetation from
an area subject to an aquaculture permit and to which the permit does not
apply.
