FUNERAL FUNDS ACT 1979 - SECT 16B
Application for registration
16B Application for registration
(1) This section applies to a person (whether an individual or a corporation)
who, immediately before the commencement of this Division: (a) carried on the
business of a funeral contribution fund, and
(b) was exempt from the
application of section 11 under section 11 (3) or from the application of
section 94 under section 97A.
(2) The person must, within 6 months after the
commencement of this Division, apply to the Director-General to be registered
under this Act to carry on a contributory funeral benefit business. Maximum
penalty: 50 penalty units.
(3) An application for registration made under
subsection (2) must: (a) be made in the form approved by the Director-General,
and
(b) be accompanied by: (i) a written statement specifying whether the
person is subject to any other prudential requirements with respect to the
person’s contributory funeral benefit business, and
(ii) such other
information as the Director-General may require.
(4) Despite any other
provision of this Act, this section applies to an individual carrying on a
business referred to in subsection (1).
